This is one of the first questions everyone asks. A lot of providers make you ring around or fill out a form before they'll give you a straight number. We've never worked that way.
At WorkSAFE Training, the total cost for the forklift licence course is $399 – made up of $100 to register and $299 when you arrive for your face-to-face training.
That's all inclusive of your training and assessment. No surprise charges for materials, no extra fee if you need to resit.
If you don't pass the first time, we don't charge you again for the additional training you need to get there. That's part of our Guarantee, not an add-on cost.
There's one cost that sits outside the course fee – and this applies no matter which RTO you train with. It's the government application fee that Workplace Health and Safety Queensland charges to issue your physical licence card once you've been assessed as competent.
That fee currently sits at around $100 and covers you for 5 years.
It's paid directly to WHSQ, not to us. They're the regulator issuing the licence – we're the RTO delivering the training that gets you there.
So when you're comparing prices between providers, it's worth checking whether that fee's been mentioned. It's not a hidden cost, it's just a separate one that sits with the government rather than the trainer.
You'll see prices advertised anywhere from a few hundred dollars up past $500, $600 plus. That's not because some providers are ripping people off and others aren't.
The unit itself, TLILIC0003, is exactly the same nationally set standard wherever you go. What you're actually paying for is everything around that standard – how much one-on-one time you get with the trainer, whether the course is a genuine full day of practical instruction or compressed to fit more people through, and whether the price you're quoted up front is the price you actually pay.
A cheaper course that rushes the practical component, or charges you again to resit, isn't actually cheaper once you add it up. So it's worth asking directly what happens if you don't pass, before you book anywhere.
We've offer Afterpay, because for a lot of people $399 upfront isn't the issue – it's just timing it around a pay cycle. That option's there if it helps.
All up: $399, all inclusive, plus the government's own licence application fee of around $100 once you've passed. That second licence fee is the same no matter which RTO you train with, since it's set by WHSQ, not by us.
Everything else in that total is training, assessment, and the Guarantee that backs it. We'd rather you know the number before you call than have to ring around to find out.
