Who is this service for?

This service is for licensed forklift operators who need to review safe operating practices or demonstrate their skills for an employer or site.

You may be returning to forklift work after a break, starting with a new employer or responding to a workplace request for an updated competency check.

Tell us how recently you have operated a forklift and whether your employer has a particular VOC form or assessment requirement. We will discuss whether this service suits your needs.

What is a forklift VOC?

VOC stands for Verification of Competency. It is a check of an operator's knowledge and practical skills for the equipment and tasks included in the assessment.

Your forklift licence and a VOC serve different purposes. A VOC provides a record of the competency check. It does not issue, renew or replace your High Risk Work licence.

What we review

  • Work area hazards, pedestrian safety and traffic arrangements.
  • Pre-start inspections, equipment condition and defect reporting.
  • Forklift controls and safe operating procedures.
  • Reading the data plate and understanding capacity, load weight and load centre.
  • Checking load stability and positioning the forks correctly.
  • Lifting, travelling with and placing loads safely.
  • Looking in the direction of travel and checking before reversing.
  • Safe parking, shutdown and securing the forklift.

The exact activities depend on the forklift, assessment scope and your employer's requirements. Confirm these with our team before booking.

How the refresher and VOC works

  1. Tell us about your licence, experience and workplace requirements.
  2. Confirm the forklift type, assessment scope, price and date.
  3. Complete any preparation requested by our team.
  4. Attend the session for a review of safe work practices and a practical competency check.
  5. Receive a VOC record documenting the assessment outcome.

Our assessor will observe your operation and ask questions relevant to the agreed tasks. If gaps are identified, we will explain them and discuss any further training or reassessment needed.

A satisfactory outcome depends on demonstrating the required knowledge and safe practical skills. It is not guaranteed simply by attending.

What you need before attending

  • Your current forklift High Risk Work licence. Tell us which licence class you hold when you enquire.
  • Identification. Our team will confirm what you need to bring.
  • Enclosed footwear and suitable work clothing for practical forklift operation.
  • Your employer's requirements. Send any required VOC form, equipment details or assessment instructions before the session.
  • Any requested preparation completed. Check your booking instructions.

Please discuss language or literacy support, accessibility needs or concerns about the practical activities before booking. We will explain the session requirements and discuss your needs.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a forklift refresher or VOC cost?

The advertised price is $75. Confirm what is included, the equipment being assessed and any additional training requirements before booking. Workplace or group arrangements are quoted separately.

How long does the session take?

Our team will confirm the duration, preparation requirements and arrival time once we understand the assessment you need.

Does a VOC renew my forklift licence?

No. A VOC does not renew your High Risk Work licence. Licence renewal is a separate process through the licensing authority. If your licence has expired, tell us before booking.

Can I do this if I do not have a forklift licence?

This service is for operators who already hold a current licence. If you need your first forklift licence, you need a licensing course rather than a VOC. View our beginner and experienced forklift licence pathways or call our team for help choosing.

Is the VOC a nationally recognised qualification?

No. This is a non-accredited competency verification service. The VOC record documents the assessment outcome and scope. It is not a Statement of Attainment for TLILIC0003.

Does the VOC cover every type of forklift?

No. The assessment record relates to the equipment and tasks assessed. Tell us if you need counterbalance, high reach or another forklift type, so we can confirm availability and the assessment scope.

Does this cover an order picker?

An order picker is a separate equipment and licensing category. Tell us if your request relates to an order picker so we can discuss the appropriate licence and assessment.

Will my employer accept the VOC?

Check your employer's or site's requirements before booking. Send us any required form or assessment criteria so we can confirm whether our service meets their needs.

Can I complete the VOC entirely online?

A practical forklift VOC includes observation of your operating skills. Online knowledge revision alone does not demonstrate practical competency. Our team will confirm how your assessment will be conducted.

Enquire about a forklift refresher or VOC

Tell us your preferred location, the forklift type, your licence class and what your employer requires. We will help you confirm the assessment details and available dates.
